Her family was left homeless after they moved to Decatur from Cleveland, OH and found that the house they had already paid a deposit and one-month rent for was in deplorable conditions and was declared uninhabitable by the City. An anonymous benefactor gave the Johnsons a house for them to use for free until they can find a suitable place to live.
